Apalachicola Seafood Grill, Apalachicola Florida

The holy grail of Grouper sandwiches is served here at the Apalachicola Seafood Grill in Apalachicola Florida. Conveniently located right on the corner in the downtown shopping district it prominently draws tourists to check them out.

THE GOOD: Advertised as the worlds largest seafood sandwich it definitely lives up to its name. Not only is it humongous but it is every bit as delicious as well. Served fried, grilled or blackened we recommend it fried as it is perfectly cooked. Served on a toasted bun which is also light and doesn’t detract from the grouper as a heavier bun would. Their French fries are also perfectly fried. Bring your appetite because this is a big sandwich to consume. So much fish that you find yourself eating pieces of the delicious grouper first just to scale back the enormity of the sandwich. One would find it pricey at $19.99 for a sandwich but don’t let that deter you. It is worth every penny and a must try at least once.

We also tried the large green salad with mixed greens, tomato, onion, cucumber, with fresh baked French bread topped with a very large filet of grilled Grouper. Another home run with this selection. The grouper was cooked nicely and our fish was a meal in itself before we even drilled down to eat the salad. Perfect for those on a Keto diet if you forgo the bread and choose the vinaigrette dressing.

Another great feature is that this grill is dog friendly with ample outside seating to enjoy a delicious meal with your canine companion.

COULD USE IMPROVEMENT:  This is an over the counter restaurant where you place your order and receive your food. No problem there except they charge each customer with a mandatory 15% surcharge. Instituted right after the downturn that restaurants experienced from Covid it becomes something that can’t be dialed back. So if you take our advice and try this grill understand that your $19.99 sandwich is really $22.99. This is a delicate balancing act as many customers, such as our guests, said that they will not come back due the the price tag
