Half Shell Dockside, Apalachicola Florida

If you love an amazing Bloody Mary and it’s a Sunday then the Bloody Mary station at Half Shell Dockside Apalachicola Florida is a must visit. They start you off with a Bloody Mary, take it to the fixin’s station and add whatever fancies you from olives, bacon, cheese to an assortment of greens, beets all the way up to grilled cheese sandwiches. It’s a meal in itself.

THE GOOD:  Our party ordered seared Ahi Tuna, grilled Grouper Tacos, and a fried Grouper Sandwich (more on that one later). The seared AhiTuna was amazing. While listed as an appetizer it could easily pass for a meal. The tuna was seared perfectly and was truly delicious. The grilled Grouper tacos were also delicious and plentiful. Cooked and seasoned very well the three tacos along with the French Fries made for a delicious meal. The draft beer on hand featured a few beers from Oyster City Brewery from just down the road and always a favorite among locals and visitors alike. *This is a very dog friendly restaurant right on the river.

COULD USE IMPROVEMENT:  This saddens us to critique as we truly like this restaurant but the fried Grouper Sandwich was not good. The fish was not meaty, thin and dried out. From the looks of it we were served either the very tail end of the filet or just a bad filet. From first glance we saw that it was curled up and not a plump meaty Grouper as one would expect

Recommendation: Very good but not great because of the Grouper sandwich which is a pass.
