When you are in the very heart of the oyster capitol the world and you run an oyster raw bar, one would hope that you have one of the best. We’ve eaten raw oyster here before but today we wanted to mix it up a bit to see how good the rest of the Indian Pass Raw Bar food items were. Let’s find out.
THE GOOD: I’ve always been a raw oyster aficionado so this was my first time trying an order of baked oysters. Yum! Oysters on the half shell topped with lemon, Parmesan cheese, garlic, baked and served with garlic bread toast. The topping was delicious and broiled nicely while the oyster underneath was juicy and still raw.
Our steamed shrimp was exceptional. Seasoned with Old Bay seasoning and steamed then served with lemon, drawn butter and Corn on the Cobb. We’ve had this dish here before and we were hoping that it would as good as it was in the past considering that we would be writing this review. It was one of the best we’ve eaten anywhere. The shrimp were cooked perfect, steaming hot and firm. A must have if you love shrimp.
Indian Pass Raw Bar is well known for their seafood items but how good are their non seafood dishes? We wanted to find out so we ordered the BBQ sandwich. After all not every group wants to go and have seafood so there should be other good food options for those who want something else. Another yum! Their BBQ pork sandwich was so good in fact that I ate it all even though I ordered it just to taste and evaluate. Very delicious.
Their beer and wine cooler had a very large assortment of domestic and import beers. We especially like the draft beer station where you can pull your own draft beer yourself, all on the honor system where you check off what you’ve taken on a card and present it to the cashier at the end.
COULD USE IMPROVEMENT: From a constructive standpoint we have to rate the service with a solid C grade. Just nice enough to get by but not where they make you feel as if they are delighted that you came. No warm and no fuzzy here. This little tweak would do so much for their business. It would also do a great deal for the tip jar at the register.
Recommendation: Highly recommend for their food.
