Paddy’s Raw Bar, St. George Island Glorida

St. George Island, in the “Forgotten Coast” of the Florida Panhandle, is a popular tourist destination. Located not far from  Apalachicola which is well known for their oysters. The State of Florida instituted a five year moratorium on wild oyster harvesting last year so all local oysters are farm raised. Not all bad as they are still taken from local water ways.  Today we came to Paddy’s Raw Bar on St. George Island to sample their oysters and lunch fare

THE GOOD:  The raw oysters were quite good.  Fresh and plump, which made for a good appetizer.  Served the traditional way with horseradish, cocktail sauce, lemon wedge and the usual crackers. For lunch we also ordered the grilled Mahi-mahi sandwich which was seasoned very well and cooked perfectly, then served on a bun with lettuce, slice of tomato and red onion.  We also had the Bang Bang Shrimp tacos. The shrimp were cooked perfectly with just the right amount of spiciness without being over bearing. Our server was very nice and attentive to all our needs.

The outdoor seating and atmosphere was reminiscent of a Florida Keys outdoor restaurant. Best of all this is a dog friendly venue with an outdoor entertainment stage.

COULD USE IMPROVEMENT:  Nothing noted.  Do be aware that if you are looking for fried food, Paddy’s does not have a fryer so fried food such as fried fish or French fries are not available.

Recommendation: Recommend
