We stopped in at the Grillsmith Restaurant in Clearwater Florida to have lunch with a good friend. We were hoping for a great lunch and we got it.
THE GOOD: Great service means so much and our server, Dominic, was well above par. Friendly and attentive with a great table side manner. He even brought a refill on our drink before we even thought of asking for one. Ten stars for him.
The Chicken Caprese Salad is a must have. While many restaurants that offer a Caprese salad simply provide a tomato and mozzarella dish, Grillsmith kicks it up a notch. It comes as a premium beefsteak tomato, fresh mozzarella, basil, arugula with a balsamic glaze, Grillsmith also provides protein with the salad by including perfectly cooked grilled chicken. A very nice combination.
Crunchy Ahi Tuna was made up of Sushi-grade tuna, avocado salad, crispy wontons, sesame Thai dipping sauce and wasabi cream. This was a first having avocado paired with Ahi tuna. A delightful combination that pleased the palate. Perfectly cooked with great presentation.
Caribbean Pumpkin Crab Bisque was also a hit. House-made blue crab bisque, toasted almonds, green onion with a dollop of cream. Our friend ordered the soup to have a lighter fare and loved it. Her comment was “I expected good and this exceeded my expectations.
Breadsticks were brought to our table by our server immediately upon us being seated. A bread stater that was light with a nice buttery seasoned coating.
