Paul’s Chicago Pizza, Clearwater Florida

Chicago undoubtedly has some of the absolute best pizzas. Most think that deep dish pizza is what Chicago is best known for but for those of us from the Windy City we know that their thin crust pizzas are the best. Take the Chicagoan out of Chicago and you have someone dying to find an authentic Chicago pizza in other parts of the Untied States. We found it in Clearwater Florida at Paul’s Chicago Pizza.

THE GOOD:  We ordered a thin crust cheese and sausage pizza, a Chicago classic. It was as good as any pizza we have ever had back home. Perfect in every way!  The sausage was hand formed, not the crumbled or sliced Italian sausage that many pizzerias default to in a sad way. The sausage had that wonderful sweet taste that made us almost pick at the end of the meal just to continue enjoying its savory taste. The cheese was obviously fresh mozzarella and the sauce was sweet and not over powering. Lastly the thin crust came perfectly cooked with just the right amount of crispness. This pizza was a huge hit.

COULD USE IMPROVEMENT:  We ordered their Greek salad and we were deeply disappointed. Why should a great pizza restaurant serve a good salad?  Because it’s easier to have a good alternative meal for a member of the group, who doesn’t want pizza, to want to agree coming here for a an alternative healthy option. The best part of this salad was the toppings and the dressing. The disappointment was the parts of the iceberg lettuce served. In other words, iceberg lettuce is great for Greek salads but this one contained no green leafy portions of the iceberg lettuce at all, just the white stem portion. Where did all the greens leafy parts go?  This will make it impossible to convince the salad enthusiast in our group to agree to come back here.  Which means fewer visits. See the second attached salad picture.

Recommendation: Very highly recommend for the pizza. Can not recommend the salad.
