Thirsty Marlin, Palm Harbor Florida

This Saturday’s lunch brought us to the Thirsty Marlin in Palm Harbor Florida with really good friends. This is a quaint restaurant that has an impressive friendly bar just as you enter.

THE GOOD:  Pleasant atmosphere and good service with indoor and outdoor seating. We noticed that it was dog friendly which is a plus if you want to bring your pooch along.

The Grouper Rueben sandwich was a hit. Served on marble rye bread, slaw, potato chips and a pickle spear. Our friend gave it a thumbs up saying that it was delicious. The sandwich was large enough to satisfy any dining guest.

Blackened Grouper tacos were also a hit. Served with black beans and a side of sweet potato fries. Not one, not two but three good size tacos were a delicious dish that was also a hit. Very satisfying in taste and presentation. A good choice for those that enjoy fish tacos.

The blackened grilled Grouper was perfectly prepared. Not blackened beyond recognition, this dish had the perfect amount of seasoning that allowed the flavor of the Grouper shine through. It was warm and flaky and served with both tartar and a tangy “Bohemian” sauce that had the right amount of kick to it. We opted for the side of green beans that were well prepared and had a nice snap to them.

Sweet potato fries can best be described as awesome. Great flavor.

COULD USE IMPROVEMENT:  The Tuna Sashimi was just average and not as good as we’ve had elsewhere. It was listed as Ahi Tuna crusted with sesame seeds. The sesame seeds were non existent. Seared to the right temperature but not flavorful. We would recommend taking a soft pass on this dish.

Recommendation: Strong recommendation except for the tuna.
